Fastest & Largest Planets Meet Up ~ 22 Aug 2016

After my last post on the new planet, I received a question regarding planetary rulership. As in, what sign would the new planet likely rule? Great question! The consensus amongst several of my esteemed colleagues is that with all the new discoveries (awareness of planets already in place), rulership determinations could be messy. So, let’s go classical and simple... only visible planets rule signs. Neptune and Pluto will be grand fathered in their existing rulership status; Uranus is visible sometimes, and as such, worthy of rulership. So sorry, Uranus, no controversy there.

In thinking about rulerships, rules and regulations naturally came to mind. Planets in gravitationally regulated orbits offer prescribed rules for optimal tracking in life. Rules of the road intending to lead us forward on a perfected path with the blessings of planetary archetypes. While Virgo is known to comb the past for useful data received and acquired knowledge, ensure that the combing does not create a “that was then and this is still then” mindset - no expectation that what happened before has to happen again - especially if not ideal. That was then, this is now with a new overlay of understanding and consciousness. Or possibly the future as seen now in the present as you conceive and intend the road trip ahead.

We’re now in the thick of a Virgo stellium consisting of the Sun, Orcus, lunar north node, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter. Conscious attention (Sun) meets promises made (Orcus), destiny sought (node), value contributed and gain received (Venus), all up for mental scrutiny (Mercury) and greater plan designs (Jupiter). Today, Mercury, the speediest planet - in terms of time to travel around the Sun - and the largest planet, Jupiter, line up for the first of three interactions occurring within the next weeks.

With Mercury conjunct Jupiter, how do we cope with shifting priorities? How do we cope with logistical complexities that impact our objectives, especially if over estimating or under assessing time, materials and abilities? Are the protocols established at the start of any objective relevant in the present? Since this combines “think about it” Mercury and “got a grasp of the big picture” Jupiter who is inclined to exaggerate and embellish, pausing for a refresh of the rules of the road might be a great way to proceed. Is there an easier path? A superior detour? Let’s comb the metadata and get metaphysical.

Perhaps a reminder that the I-Ching counsels that there should be limits on limits is in order. Is this a time to limit the number of rules, policies and protocols? Or is this the time for exceptional compliance? Are there limits to the amount of things that can be done, or the amount of time one can expend energy doing what must be done?

Perhaps Mercury and Jupiter conspire to create the most expeditious path to lofty locations. Perhaps they call for simplicity. Is this triptych of transits a reminder to avoid the quest for perfection while forsaking the value of nominal?

This is a no-fretting zone for sure. Likely we will benefit from a “no over tweaking” zone as well. Years ago, when in the Navy, I worked on a massive sonar system consisting of a vast array of computational units. Our gang had taken weeks to calibrate our system for nominal operational parameters. One day, an inexperienced technician noticed that one unit’s power supply voltage was within nominal ranges, but not exact to the midpoint of specifications. So, he tweaked it to exactitude. The rest of the system responded, and a catastrophic collapse resulted.

Last week I watched the documentary Hitchcock/Truffaut. At one point Hitchcock talks about the aerial shot in The Birds where the gas station was set ablaze during a bird attack. He noted that he could create a picture of the catastrophe at hand, from an elevated, objective point of view, without having to address the details of people hooking up hoses to put out the fire. The big picture and the importance of that picture (Jupiter) could be seen (Mercury) with maximum impact without becoming mired in details (Virgo). Everyone got the point of the plot.

Maybe it’s time to try alternate editing styles. Instead of onscreen editing in a word processor, make PDF of the document and edit that for a different look. Or edit with a pencil on a printed copy. If you’re conscientious about paper use, then the back of printed paper can later be used for scratch pads. Find an alternative method. Instead of thinking outside the box, flip linear models, then maybe be cool with the cube... or go spherical. Read Flatland. Or Rudy Rucker’s The Fourth Dimension.

Though hours ago we had Mercury conjunct Jupiter, we’ll have Mercury retrograde conjunct Jupiter on September 2nd with exact alignment with a Virgo Moon to boot. This is a “get it right” time. Heed all input received. Review the past for data received. Apply the data to the here and now mundane matters. Does it help to heap up small things and deal with life in bite-sized pieces? Observation from the point of view of Virgo notes that each stone put in place secures the foundation of the castle... and one stone at a time, perfectly anchored. If it was missed before, or requires more TLC right now, get that going. All the while maintaining the clarity that all these details form the ideal result and apply a tick mark next to stated goals... which are promises consciously made to apply all creativity and skills to obtain the best results for the incarnation in progress.

The final Mercury to Jupiter conjunction occurs October 11 in Libra and with as much in Libra as we now have in Virgo. In early October, Elatus, Makemake, Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Haumea travel in tandem in Libra. Bottom line: Hard lines shift. Cooperation increases. With common objectives and shared beliefs (Jupiter), clarity in defining terms and conditions (Mercury) ensure that each participant receives fair shares and the good feeling of being a member of something important and good.

Be clear. Think big and far-reaching. Remember the sorting of details now organically allows for equitable involvement of all members of your team, village, solar system or constellation and the aggregate cooperative engagement permits achieving even the grandest of goals, benefitting all involved.

More soon.
